Announcements for Monday, February 28, 2011

1.      This weekend 45 projects created by T/E students competed in the annual Philadelphia Classical Society competition in traditional artistry and literature.  Although the complete list of winners will not be out for a few weeks, 2 winners have been named:  Maggie C. for her sketch of the Roman god Mars and Max M. for his winning T shirt design.  Maggie's picture can be seen in the main office.

 

2.      Attention Tuesday 5th and 6th grade chorus: we rehearse tomorrow after school

 

3.      Attention Monday 5th grade chorus: we rehearse today after school

 

4.      Due to the half day on Wednesday, Manga/Anime club will be rescheduled to Monday, March 7 in Room 153 after school.

 

5.      Attention songfest members: we rehearse today during activity period

 

6.      There will be a meeting for all 8th grade girls interested in playing lacrosse this year on Tuesday, March 1 activity in large group 12.

 

7.      Attention all spring athletes - ImPACT testing is required for all students playing lacrosse and is optional for those playing baseball, softball, or track.  If you have never had an ImPACT test, please go to the alien lab after school on Tuesday, March 1 or Tuesday, March 8, to be eligible to participate this spring.  See Miss Hickey if you have any questions.

 

8.      Here is our February Song of the Week Update:

In 5th Grade, Mr. Prothero maintains a small lead over Ms. Rickel.

In 6th Grade, Mr. Broadhead continues to set the pace although his lead as shrunk to two points over Mr. Krimsky.

In 7th Grade, Ms. Wilson has made a recent charge into the lead.  Ms. Corson and Mr. Boukalik are just off the pace.

In 8th Grade, Mr. McCarthy leads Mrs. Ferenchick by only two points.

The overall school leader belongs to Mr. Ferris and Room 226.  All of the competitions are very close with four months to go so keep on submitting your entries.

Remember – every correct Artist you submit is worth 1 point, every correct Title is worth 1 point, and winners of the week are drawn at random from all entries.

3.     Attention all spring athletes - ImPACT testing is required for all students playing lacrosse and is optional for those playing baseball, softball, or track.  If you have never had an ImPACT test, please go to the alien lab after school on Tuesday, March 1 or Tuesday, March 8, to be eligible to participate this spring.  See Miss Hickey if you have any questions.

 

4.     Attention Dance Club Members-the Dance Club party is post poned until next Thursday, March 3.  Please remember to bring your supplies.

4.      Attention 8th grade boys’ basketball team, please turn-in your cleaned uniform by Friday, February 25th.

1.     Lunch Today: Baked Ziti with Sausage, Peppers and Onions, Assorted fruit and vegetables and low fat white or chocolate milk

 

2.     Spring Sports are right around the corner. Stop by the Main Office to pick up your forms...Forms must be completed before practice begins

 

3.     The following classes are to report to the Large Group Room at the beginning of 4th period for the grade level math league test:  Mrs. Stehouwer's 2nd period Algebra 1 class, Ms. Crocker's 5th period Pre-algebra class, Ms. Quirk's 3rd period Algebra 1 class.  Please bring a pencil and a calculator to the large group room.

 

Mrs. Stehouwer's 4th period class should report directly to Ms. Crocker in room 130.  Geometry and Algebra 2 students will take their tests during their math classes today.

 

4.     Last week the Valley Forge and TE wrestler culminated their seasons with 2 joint days of practice followed by 2 long days of competition.  On Friday and Saturday the Conestoga Middle School Wrestling team, a combination of the Valley Forge and TE Middle School teams, competed in the prestigious Southeastern Pennsylvania Junior High/Middle School Championships.  The tournament consisted of 27 of the top teams of 7th to 9th graders from Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware Counties.  Our Conestoga Middle School team, for the first time ever placed, earning a 5th place trophy.  Of the 16 wrestlers on the team 7 placed in the top 6 in their bracket earning a spot on the medal stand.

 

The team consisted of Brigham D, Aaron O, Scott C, Liudas P, Michael S, Eddie K, Kevin Z, Dylan S, Danny I, Chris B, Damase B, Andrew W, Chris M, Eddie J, Alec D, and Leonard W.

 

Earning a 6th place medal were: Scott C, Danny I, Eddie J, and Leonard W

 

Placing 5th was Andrew W

 

Earning a 4th place medal was Damase B

 

And for only the second time ever we had a champion as Chris M won his bracket as he placed 1st in the 145 pound weight class.

 

Great job to all the wrestlers as you represented our district with class and sportsmanship.

2.    Congratulations to Lily S. for representing T/E Middle School at the Chester County Spelling Bee.  There were 52 contestants from across the county. Lily represented herself and T/E well against some stiff competition.  Congratulations again to Lily for being this year’s school-wide Spelling Bee Champion.

 

3.    Attention all chorus members auditioning on piano: the auditions are today during activity periods in room 171. Please arrive on time

 

4.    Attention all 8th grade chorus members: make sure you check out the important message on the chorus bulletin board regarding 9th grade chorus. You must sign up for one of the ensembles.  See Mr. Spangler if you have any questions.

Green cards need to be signed by parents and dropped off at the box outside Mr. Sola's office.  Please see Mr. Sola in his office at lunch, before school, or after school with any questions.

2.      Attention 5th and 6th graders:  Sign up now for the 5th and 6th grade movie social.  Flyers are available from your homeroom teacher or in the office.  The movie is “Rango” starring the voice of Johnny Depp.  The social is Friday, March 4th, from 11:30 to 2:00 at the Anthony Wayne movie theater in Wayne.  The cost is $12-payable by cash or check made out to TEMS PTO.  Pizza and unlimited popcorn and soda are included!

 

3.      Change for Champions is running all this week……bring in your change…..have a chance to win a great prize…..and help out Special Olympics!!!

 

4.      Congratulation to the 8th grade boys’ basketball team as they have won their last four games of the season.  They defeated Steward 37 to 16.   I am please to state that this team displayed and understood that there is “No I in team” and that hard work pays-off.   WAY TO GO BULLDOGS!

2.      Congratulations to the 8th grade boys’ basketball team as they defeated East Norriton 32 to 29.  The entire team played an outstanding game.  Way to go Bulldogs!

2.     Congratulations to Cynthia H, April H, Courtney K, and Alex W. who took 1st place in the Math Counts competition over the weekend. 200 students from 26 schools across Chester County were represented. Alex W. also placed 2nd individually in both the written and oral competition. These students will represent Chester County at the Pennsylvania state competition next month. Arun B., Sean G., Mary M., Nakita R., Daniel X., and Michael Z. also participated in the competition. Congratulations!

         

3.     Tech club will end at 3:30 today...

1.      Today’s lunch is Bosco Pizza Dippers with Marinara Sauce, assorted fruits and vegetables, low fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2.      Attention 8th Grade:  Mr. Sola will meet with 8th graders during their 7th and 8th period Advisory sections on Wednesday February 2nd to discuss the upcoming Conestoga Course Selection Process.  On Wednesday, students should report to their Advisory classroom - and the Advisory teacher will take their class to Large Group Room 12 for the presentation.  All students should bring their Program of Studies booklet with them.


 

3.      Congratulations to the 8th grade boys’ basketball team as they defeated Eisenhower 25 to 18.  The entire team played an outstanding game.  Way to go bulldogs!
