  1. Today’s lunch is pizza dippers, low fat white or chocolate milk, and assorted fruits and vegetables.

 

  1. Do you like to write? Would you like to see your name in print? The writing club is looking for all interested writers to join in order to create the Bulldog Press, the school newspaper. Meetings will be held on Thursdays from 2:40-3:10. Permission slips can be found in the main office and turned into Mr. Mattison. The first meeting will be held on October 6 in the Upper Computer lab, the former Alien Lab.

 

  1. T/E will be starting a Chess Club on Monday, October 3rd in room 109.  If you are interested in joining the Chess Club, please see Mr. Hardy or Mr. Prothero for a permission form. This club is opened to all grades.

 

  1. Congratulations to the 7th Grade Boy’s Soccer Team for their win yesterday against Valley Forge

 

  1. On this day in 1918, a Liberty Loan parade in Philadelphia prompts a huge outbreak of the flu epidemic in the city. By the time the epidemic ended, an estimated 30 million people were dead worldwide.

 

  1. Yesterday the 8th grade field hockey team played their first game – although did not get to finish it due to lightning.  Everyone played a great game and worked together well as a team.  Congratulations team and good luck on the rest of your season!

  1. Congrats to the 7th grade girls’ soccer team who started off the season with a win yesterday against Valley Forge. Alicia O. scored two goals and Lily S. scored one. The final score was 3-1.

Announcements for Friday, September 23, 2011 - Day 5

  1. Valley Forge National Historic Park is one of the largest open spaces in southeastern Pennsylvania with 3,500 acres containing habitats for hundreds of plants and animals, including 200 species of birds.  Tomorrow is National Public Lands Day!

  1. Attention 5th, 6th, and 7th grade girls:  Dance Club will begin on Tuesday September 27 after school.  Pick up your permission slip outside of room 208.  Please see Ms. Seymour in room 208 if you have any questions.

 

  1. Attention 6th graders:  6th grade hand bells will meet after school today in     Room 10.  All 6th graders interested in ringing hand bells this year should report to Room 10 immediately after school today.

 

  1. "Manga and Animae Club," otherwise known as "MAC" will begin its weekly meetings Wednesday, September 28th, after school in Ms. Turner's art room- 153. The club will meet from 2:35-3:30 every Wednesday.  Students who need to ride the shuttle may leave at 3:15.  MAC is a place to draw, read, view, and discuss Manga and Animae.  All skill levels are welcome - grades 5-8!"

2.     The 7th and 8th grade girls' soccer team should get on bus #33 or 45 out in front of school by 2:40 with your soccer equipment today.

 

3.     Attention: 7th Grade Boy's Soccer: Please stop by Ms. Hill's room, 175, during Activity Period today to get your uniform.

 

4.     After School Sports for all 5th and 6th graders begin today after school.  All interested please report to the large gym by 2:40.  If you have any questions please see Mrs. Rickel.

 

5.     Attention all boys in 5th grade chorus and all boys in 6th grade chorus: All boys in 5th and 6th grade chorus have sectionals today during activity.  Please see Mrs. Gyza if you have any questions.

After School Sports, for all 5th and 6th graders that are interested, will begin on Monday, Sept. 19th.  You do not need to sign up to participate.  If you would like to participate, just show up any day of the week Monday thru Thursday in the large gym.  You can come as often or as little as you want.  After School Sports are held in the large gym and start at the end of the school day.  They are over at 3:12 and you may take the shuttle bus as your transportation home if you like.  Any questions, please see Mrs. Rickel in room 215.  Hope to see you on Monday the 19th!

 

  1. On this day in 1857, Timothy Alden of New York City earned a patent for the typesetting machine. Newspaper and magazine publishers were very happy, as the machine made the production of these publications much faster and easier to accomplish ... making them more timely. We wonder what Timothy would have thought of the computer.

 

  1. On this day in 1984 Princess Diana and Prince Charles celebrated the birth of their second child, a blue-eyed baby boy who weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces. Prince Harry (Henry Charles Albert David) is third in line to succeed to the British throne.

Welcome back to another season of fall sports at TEMS!  The master fall schedule has recently been updated on the school website.  Please review it for any changes from the schedule posted in August at the following link:
 
Weekly updates will be posted to this blog on Fridays and daily weather-related changes will be posted as soon as possible on that given day.  The hotline will be updated daily beginning on Monday, September 26 and will be updated for weather-related changes, also.  The hotline number is 610-240-1250.
 
I hope that you all can come to the parents meeting on Monday, September 19, at 4:45 in the large gym.  Team picture day is on Thursday 9/22 at the fields/courts.

On this day in 1901, U.S. President William McKinley dies after being shot by a deranged anarchist during the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York.  When he was operated on, doctors failed to find the bullet, and gangrene soon spread throughout his body. McKinley died eight days later. Theodore Roosevelt becomes president.

 

  1. On this day in 1959 a Soviet rocket crashes into the moon's surface, becoming the first man-made object sent from earth to reach the lunar surface. The event gave the Soviets a short-lived advantage in the "space race" and prompted even greater effort by the United States to develop its own space program.

Attention all students interested in joining TV Studio:  There will be a meeting today in room right after school for any student interested in becoming a new member of TV Studio.  If you are in 5th or 6th grade you will be able to take the shuttle bus home.  Please see Ms. Crocker or Mr. Ferris if you cannot attend the meeting.

 

  1.   1. On this day in 1814, Francis Scott Key pens a poem which is later set to music and in 1931 becomes America's national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner." The poem, originally titled "The Defence of Fort McHenry," was written after Key witnessed the Maryland fort being bombarded by the British during the War of 1812.

  1. Attention all Unlimited Football Players: Unlimited Football is practicing today at VF and all players should have their forms in by the end of lunch.  The bus leaves IMMEDIATELY after school.

 

  1. Attention 7th and 8th grade Field Hockey players:  Practice starts tomorrow, Tuesday September 13th, at 3:00.  We practice at TEMS so meet right out on the fields.  There will be no practice on Thursday of this week

 

  1. Attention anyone interested in joining TV Studio:  There will be a meeting on Tuesday, September 13 in room 133 right after school for new TV Studio Members.  If you are in 5th or 6th grade, you will be able to take the shuttle home.  If you cannot attend the meeting, please see Ms. Crocker or Mr. Ferris for the paperwork.
