Announcements for Friday, December 09, 2011

1.      Today’s lunch is Cheese and Pepperoni Dippers with assorted fruits and vegetables and low fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2.      TEMS is having a book drive.  Clean off your bookshelves!  Donate your children's books and chapter books to school!  Place your books in the boxes in the front hall!  All books will be picked up on December 21.  Thank you!

 

3.      Attention all crochet students who have been attending on a Monday: The dates are now different for meeting. Crocheting the Coral Reef creatures will meet on Wednesdays in room 203 from now on. Make a note of it.

 

4.      A reminder to all 6th graders interested in participating in mathcounts there is a meeting today in room 123 during activity period.  Please talk to your math teacher if you cannot make it.

 

5.      Attention TV Studio Members:  Next weeks schedule is now posted.  Please check it before you leave today.

 

6.      T/E Middle and all the folks that make it such a special place, brightened the lives of 2,000 recovering soldiers with cards and letters. You folks are special indeed!

 

7.      Congratulations to Mr. Parker’s homeroom for winning song of the week. The song was Panama by Van Halen.

Announcements for Thursday, December 08, 2011 - Day 5

1.      Today’s lunch is Baked BBQ Boneless Chicken Thighs with assorted fruits and vegetables and low fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2.      TEMS is having a book drive.  Clean off your bookshelves!  Donate your children's books and chapter books to school!  Place your books in the boxes in the front hall!  All books will be picked up on December 21.  Thank you!

 

3.      Dance club is cancelled for today.  We will meet again next Tuesday.

 

4.      There will be a meeting for all 6th graders interested in participating in the Mathcounts team on Friday, December 9th in room 123 during activity period.   Mathcounts is a math team that will compete against other schools in our county.  We will practice one or two times a week and there is one competition in March.  It is a lot of fun and all students are encouraged to join.  At each practice session, students will be presented with fun, challenging math problems that we will work on as a whole group, in small groups or individually.

 

5.      Seventh and eighth grade Helping Hands members should report to room 108 during 5th period TODAY. We will have a working lunch meeting.

Announcements for Wednesday, December 07, 2011 - Day 4

1.      Today’s lunch is Meatball Parmesan on a roll with assorted fruits and vegetables and low fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2.      There will be a brief meeting after school today for any student in 5th and 6th grade who may be interested in participating in our school play this year.  The meeting will take place in the large group room from 2:40-3:10.  At that time, the name of the play will be announced along with other details about rehearsals and performances.

 

3.      Community Service Club has a new name.  Helping Hands!  Members will meet today during 6th period in room 208.  It will be a working lunch, so please bring your lunches.  We will also meet after school today if you can not make it during 6th period.

  1. On this day in 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks is jailed for refusing to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man, a violation of the city's racial segregation laws. The successful Montgomery Bus Boycott, organized by a young Baptist minister named Martin Luther King, Jr., followed Park's historic act of civil disobedience.
