Announcements for Wednesday, December 21, 2011 - Day 2

1.      Today’s lunch is Pizza Dippers (Cheese Filled Breadsticks) w/Marinara Sauce, assorted fruits and vegetables, and low-fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2.      The Helping Hands Club is collecting new toys, games, and craft supplies to donate to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from now through January 6th. We are asking students to donate new, unwrapped items to give to kids at the hospital recovering from illnesses. Please drop off donations in the Main Office with Mrs. Galella. Please provide your name and homeroom number. The homeroom that donates the greatest number of items will win a donut breakfast in January. Thanks for helping!

 

3.      There will be a holiday card, compliments of Ms. Turner and her art students, in the cafeteria this week. This card will be sent to Jay Raffetto who is a former student. Jay is recovering from injuries received while serving in Afghanistan at the Walter Reed Medical Center. All students and staff are encouraged to sign the card.

 

4.      On this day in 1991, in a final step signifying the dismemberment of the Soviet Union, 11 of the 12 Soviet republics declare that they are forming the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Just a few days later, Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev announced he was stepping down from his position. The Soviet Union ceased to exist.

4.      Congratulations to the 8th grade girls’ basketball team who placed 2nd in the Colonial Middle School Queen of the Court Tournament. The girls defeated Chichester on Friday, then went on to defeat Upper Merion in the semifinals, then unfortunately lost to Sandy Run in the finals with the final score 24-21. It was a great way to start the season!

 

5.      Attention all Cantabile members attending the trip to Chester Valley Nursing and Rehab Center today:  Please report to the auditorium at the beginning of period 3 to warm up and get on the bus.

4.      There will be a meeting for all 6th graders interested in participating in the Mathcounts team on Friday, December 9th in room 123 during activity period.   Mathcounts is a math team that will compete against other schools in our county.  We will practice one or two times a week and there is one competition in March.  It is a lot of fun and all students are encouraged to join.  At each practice session, students will be presented with fun, challenging math problems that we will work on as a whole group, in small groups or individually.

 

5.      Seventh and eighth grade Helping Hands members should report to room 108 during 5^th period TODAY. We will have a working lunch meeting.

Announcements for Thursday, November 10, 2011 - Day 1

2.      Attention any student interested in playing a winter sport that has never had an ImPACT test - please come to the library after school on Monday or Tuesday next week for that test.  See Miss Hickey if you have any questions.

 

3.      Picture retakes are today from 8a.m. until 11a.m. in the auditorium – you can come down anytime.  Please pick up a new picture form in the front office.

 

4.      Attention all Boys going on the guys harmonize field trip today:  We will meet in the Auditorium at 9:15.  Please note the change in time. See Mrs. Gyza if you have any questions.

 

5.      Congratulations to the 7th Grade Boy’s Soccer Team for a win against Eisenhower yesterday.  The score was 3-2.  Charlie M. scored 2 goals and Alex C. scored 1 goal. Sebastian U. and Jacob F. played well in goal.  Great Year Bulldogs.

 

6.      Yesterday, the girl’s 7th grade field hockey team ended their season with a spectacular win against Eisenhower Middle School with a final score of 3 to 0. Two goals were scored by Olivia R. Jess H scored the final goal.  Outstanding Offense was played by Emma C, Grace G, Madeleine W. Alexa W and Amadea K did a fabulous job in goal. Fantastic work ladies! Congratulations on a wonderful season.

 

7.      The Weight Football Team closed out its season yesterday by defeating Radnor 8-0. It was the Bulldogs third shut-out of the season and they remained unbeaten on their home field. Henry B. provided all of the Bulldog scoring with a TD reception from Nick S. and then a conversion hand-off from Matt H. The offensive blocking of Mike M., David P., Will M., Hunter F., Ethan G. and Michael D. allowed the Bulldog backfield to grind out the ground game. The Bulldog defense of Nick D., Billy H., Zack K., Joey R., Scott S. and Peyton J., along with the special teams’ pursuit by Matt R., Jack R., and Dwight B., kept Radnor out of the end zone the whole game.  Congratulations Bulldogs on another winning season!! The team celebration will be in room 108 today from 2:45 until 3:30

Announcements for Wednesday, November 09, 2011 - Day 6

1.      Today’s lunch is Pizza Dippers (Cheese Filled Breadsticks) w/Marinara Sauce, low fat white or chocolate milk, and assorted fruits and vegetables.

 

2.      "Yesterday, the girl’s 7th grade field hockey team played an awesome game beating Valley Forge with a final score of 2 to 0. Goals were scored by Olivia R and Amadea K. Alexa W and Piper H did a fabulous job in goal! Outstanding Midfield was played by Sophie G, Steph H and Caleigh S. Fantastic work ladies! Let's Beat Eisenhower today!!"

3.      Attention any student interested in playing a winter sport that has never had an ImPACT test - please come to the library after school on Monday or Tuesday next week for that test.  See Miss Hickey if you have any questions.

 

4.      Picture retakes are this Thursday, November 10^th from 8AM until 11AM in the auditorium – you can come down anytime.  Please pick up new picture forms in the front office.

 

5.      Attention Community Service members: Our first service activity is this Wednesday, Nov. 9.  Please meet Ms. Seymour in room 208 directly after school.  You will be able to make the shuttle bus home.

 

6.      Congratulations to the 8^th grade girls’ soccer team who tied Valley Forge yesterday 4-4. They girls played their best game of the season. Way to go ladies.

 

7.      Buddy Games Club is cancelled today.

 

8.      Congratulations to the 8^th grade field hockey team on a great win yesterday against Valley Forge.  It was a tight game, with both sides battling hard, but the Bulldogs came away with the 1-0 win.  Alice R. scored the lone Bulldog goal.  Everyone contributed to the win with both the offense and defense played a great game and Charlotte D. having a great game in goal.  Congratulations again girls, and thanks for a great season!
