Announcements for Wednesday, December 21, 2011 - Day 2

1.      Today’s lunch is Pizza Dippers (Cheese Filled Breadsticks) w/Marinara Sauce, assorted fruits and vegetables, and low-fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2.      The Helping Hands Club is collecting new toys, games, and craft supplies to donate to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from now through January 6th. We are asking students to donate new, unwrapped items to give to kids at the hospital recovering from illnesses. Please drop off donations in the Main Office with Mrs. Galella. Please provide your name and homeroom number. The homeroom that donates the greatest number of items will win a donut breakfast in January. Thanks for helping!

 

3.      There will be a holiday card, compliments of Ms. Turner and her art students, in the cafeteria this week. This card will be sent to Jay Raffetto who is a former student. Jay is recovering from injuries received while serving in Afghanistan at the Walter Reed Medical Center. All students and staff are encouraged to sign the card.

 

4.      On this day in 1991, in a final step signifying the dismemberment of the Soviet Union, 11 of the 12 Soviet republics declare that they are forming the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Just a few days later, Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev announced he was stepping down from his position. The Soviet Union ceased to exist.

2.      The Helping Hands Club is collecting new toys, games, and craft supplies to donate to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from now through January 6th. We are asking students to donate new, unwrapped items to give to kids at the hospital recovering from illnesses. Please drop off donations in the Main Office with Mrs. Galella. Please provide your name and homeroom number. The homeroom that donates the greatest number of items will win a donut breakfast in January. Thanks for helping!

 

3.      Attention cast of Cinderella and the Substitute Fairy Godmother: Practice will be held in the Large Group Room from 3:10-4:15.  Please bring homework and any missing forms you need to hand in.  Thank you!

 

4.      Congratulations to the 8th grade girls’ basketball team who placed 2nd in the Colonial Middle School Queen of the Court Tournament. The girls defeated Chichester on Friday, then went on to defeat Upper Merion in the semifinals, then unfortunately lost to Sandy Run in the finals with the final score 24-21. It was a great way to start the season!

 

5.      Attention all Cantabile members attending the trip to Chester Valley Nursing and Rehab Center today:  Please report to the auditorium at the beginning of period 3 to warm up and get on the bus.

1.        Today’s lunch is baked potato bar w/broccoli, cheese, and seasoned meat with assorted fruits and vegetables and low-fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2.        Grade 5 & 6 After School Sports is cancelled today due to a home basketball game.  After School Sports will be cancelled anytime there are home basketball games or a wrestling match.

 

3.        Attention all Model United Nations Club members - our next meeting is Mon. 19 Dec. after school. We should have our assigned countries to share at the meeting. If you have any questions, come to room 203.

 

4.        Tutoring Club is cancelled this afternoon.

 

5.        Writing club will not meet today. We will plan on meeting next week and continuing to work on the first edition of the Bulldog Press.

 

6.        Attention all 5th and 6th graders audition for Cinderella and the Substitute Fairy Godmother TODAY:  Please report to the large group room at the end of school with script and all forms you need.  Bring work to do while you are waiting. Thank you all!

2.        TEMS is having a book drive.  Clean off your bookshelves!  Donate your children's books and chapter books to school!  Place your books in the boxes in the front hall!  All books will be picked up on December 21.  Thank you!

3.      Attention all crochet students who have been attending on a Monday: The dates are now different for meeting. Crocheting the Coral Reef creatures will meet on Wednesdays in room 203 from now on. Make a note of it.

 

4.      A reminder to all 6th graders interested in participating in mathcounts there is a meeting today in room 123 during activity period.  Please talk to your math teacher if you cannot make it.

 

5.      Attention TV Studio Members:  Next weeks schedule is now posted.  Please check it before you leave today.

 

6.      T/E Middle and all the folks that make it such a special place, brightened the lives of 2,000 recovering soldiers with cards and letters. You folks are special indeed!

3.      Dance club is cancelled for today.  We will meet again next Tuesday.

 

4.      There will be a meeting for all 6th graders interested in participating in the Mathcounts team on Friday, December 9th in room 123 during activity period.   Mathcounts is a math team that will compete against other schools in our county.  We will practice one or two times a week and there is one competition in March.  It is a lot of fun and all students are encouraged to join.  At each practice session, students will be presented with fun, challenging math problems that we will work on as a whole group, in small groups or individually.

 

5.      Seventh and eighth grade Helping Hands members should report to room 108 during 5th period TODAY. We will have a working lunch meeting.

2.      There will be a brief meeting after school today for any student in 5th and 6th grade who may be interested in participating in our school play this year.  The meeting will take place in the large group room from 2:40-3:10.  At that time, the name of the play will be announced along with other details about rehearsals and performances.

 

3.      Community Service Club has a new name.  Helping Hands!  Members will meet today during 6th period in room 208.  It will be a working lunch, so please bring your lunches.  We will also meet after school today if you can not make it during 6th period.
