Announcements for Thursday, April 7, 2011

1. Lunch Today’s is soft beef taco with cheese, diced tomatoes, lettuce and taco sauce, assorted fruits and vegetables with low fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2. The 8^th grade boys’ lacrosse team lost to Garnet Valley by a score of 8-6 yesterday.  Goals were scored by Quinn B., Sam F., Greg T., Jack M., Matt N., and Luke T.  Quinn B., Luke T, Kevin C., and Greg T. also each had an assist.

 

3. On Monday, the 7th Grade Rockets Softball team improved their record to 2 and 0 with a convincing 15 - 0 win against Stewart.  Ella, Shannon, Lilly, Ellie, all played outstanding defensively while Alice, Julia, Abby, and Miranda were stars at the plate. Both Rachel C and Rachel D played outstanding along with Grace and Taylor. Linda and Casey combined to pitch the shutout. Great Job girls!!

 

Yesterday, the 7th Grade Vipers Softball Team opened up their season by beating Radnor by the score of 15 - 0. Gigi pitched the two hit shutout while striking out 8. Maddie W, Liz, Callie, and Alice led the hitting attack while Maddie D, Maddie O, Linda, Casey led an outstanding defensive effort that was highlighted by Emily's acrobatic catch!

 

Both teams have practice today as they prepare for Monday's game against Valley Forge.

 

4. Congratulations to the track team for a successful meet yesterday.  Everyone did a great job!  Thank you to those who helped out with timing and events. 

 

Announcements for Wednesday, April 6, 2011

1.     Lunch Today’s is grilled cheese sandwich, assorted fruits and vegetables with low fat white or chocolate milk

 

2.     Buddy Games Club for this afternoon is cancelled.

 

3.     All students who participated in the Chester County Math Counts competition should report to Ms. Quirk’s room promptly at 12:00 TODAY for your yearbook picture.

 

4.     Here is our March Song of the Week Update

 

There is a new leader in 5^th Grade. With a strong showing this month, Ms. Rickel has surged one point ahead of Mr. Prothero.  Following close behind is Mrs. McDermott.

 

The race for the 6^th Grade title looks like it will go down to the end of the year as there is now a tie between Mr. Broadhead and Mr. Krimsky.  Ms. O’Connor has closed the gap to only two points.  It could still go to anyone.

 

The flip-flop battle for the lead in 7^th Grade continues as Ms. Corson now holds the lead.  Mr. Boukalik is just one point back.  Don’t count out two-time school champion Ms. Wilson who is currently in third.

 

A strong third quarter has put Mrs. Tyrell into first place in 8^th Grade. Mr. McCarthy trails by only one point in another tight race.

 

The overall school leader is still Room 226 and Mr. Ferris.  Their lead has shrunk to one point over Ms. Corson and two points over Mrs. Tyrell and Mr. Boukalik.

 

Remember – every correct Artist you submit is worth 1 point, every correct Title is worth 1 point, and winners of the week are drawn at random from all entries.

 

5.     There will be another pretzel sale to raise money for Japan today after school. Pretzels will be $1.00 each

Announcements for Tuesday, April 5, 2011

1. Lunch Today is Baked Ziti with sausage, peppers and onions, assorted fruits and vegetables with low fat white or chocolate milk

 

2. Attention all Model United Nations Club members - we will meet today after school to prepare for the field trip to Temple University 11 April.

 

3. Attention all 8th grade students - if you are interested in applying to be a peer mediator at Conestoga next year, please pick up an application in the main office starting Monday.  Applications are open to all 8th grade students.  Please see Miss Hickey if you have any questions

 

4. Attention sewing club members…There will be no sewing club today.  Sewing club will be held tomorrow.

 

5. There will be another pretzel sale to raise money for Japan -  on Wednesday, April 6th at dismissal. Pretzels will be $1.00 each

 

6. Do you know what blood cancer is?  It’s a disease that occurs in the blood.  A healthy blood cell turns into a bad blood cell and multiplies.  To get rid of this disease, blood cancer patients have to take special medicines.  By participating in Pennies for patients, we will be helping raise money to find cures for blood cancer.

 

Don’t forget to bring in any extra coins to raise money for cancer.  We will be collecting coins for the next two weeks.  All you have to do is collect coins and put them in your homeroom’s collection box.  The top fundraising homeroom will win a pizza party!!! Every cent counts, so start collecting today!!

1.    Lunch Today is chicken nuggets w/ dipping sauce, assorted fruits and vegetables with low fat white or chocolate milk

 

2.    If you would like to be a Conestoga Football or Basketball Cheerleader for the 2011-2012 school year, you must attend today’s practice from 7:30-8:45.  Practices will be held in the Valley Forge Middle School cafeteria.  You must attend both practice sessions in order to be able to try-out.  Try-outs will be held on Monday, April 11^th and Tuesday, April 12^th beginning at 5:30.  More information will be given at the first practice.

Announcements for Friday, April 01, 2011

1.
