Announcements for Thursday May 27 2010

1.      Attention all 6th and 7th grade students.  If you are interested in playing football, soccer, or field hockey for TE in the fall then it is mandatory that you take the impact concussion baseline test.  Please see Miss Hickey to sign up for your time to take the test on either June 8 or 10.

 

 

2.      Congratulations to the 16 6th grade students who have qualified for the 24 district championship on Thursday!  Contestants will get passes from their math teachers to report to the cafeteria at 1:00 on Thursday.  Good luck to our 16 TE finalists who will be facing off against the 16 finalists from Valley Forge!!!

 

 

3.      The following 7th grade lacrosse players need to hand in their uniforms as soon as possible.  If you have your uniform in school today, please hand it in to Mrs Patek right now.  Lane A- White shirt, Sarah B, Emma C, Kelly C, Cecilia M, Kaleigh M, Sarah N, Isabelle R, Kara S, Maddy S, Amy W – skirt

 

 

4.      Attention all 8th graders preforming in tonight's Variety Show. Please arrive between 6:30 and 6:40 and report to Mr. Szymendera's room for check in.  See you all tonight!!

Announcements for Tuesday, May 25, 2010

2.  Recently, our TEMS Model United Nations club traveled to the University of Pennsylvania, to discuss and debate the topics of Information Technology use in the world, and the education of girls around the world. Because of their high level of speaking, writing, and defense of their thoughts, they were awarded commendations for each topic discussed. The students cited that day were:    Sreejata M. ,      Dalia A,     Arun B.,      Rohan G. ,      and Rahul G.         Please congratulate them when you see them.

 

The Model UN club will finish its year this Thursday with a party after school. See Mrs. Cook for details.

 

 

3.  All 8th graders participating in the Variety show Must have their permission slip signed and returned to Mr. Schweitzer by Wed. the 26th in order to perform on Thursday.

 

 

4.  Attention 8th graders… There's only 16 days left to order the Memories 2010 DVD.  Discs are selling quickly and supplies are limited.  See Mr. Veroneau in room 212 to reserve your copy.

 

 

5.  Please return your washed uniforms to Ms. Seymour in room 225.

 

The track party is next Tuesday, June 1, 2010 directly after school.  If you are able to attend, please bring $5 for pizza, soda, and snacks to Ms. Seymour by Friday, May 28.

  1. 7th grade baseball players after school meeting has been changed to tomorrow, Tuesday, May 25th. Players should bring washed uniforms in a bag with their name on it. The meeting will be brief and players will take normal transportation home.

 

  1. Attention 7th and 8th grade girls lacrosse players.  Your uniforms are due to Mrs. Patek in room 121.  Please hand in your cleaned uniform as soon as possible. 

 

  1. Today in 1883, after 14 years and 27 deaths while being constructed, the Brooklyn Bridge over the East River is opened, connecting the great cities of New York and Brooklyn for the first time in history.

Congratulations to the 6th, 7th and 8th grade knowledge bowl teams that competed yesterday in the Chester County Knowledge Bowl competition. All the teams did fantastic! Thank you all for your hard work and dedication.

Congratulations are in order to those track team members who attended the Lower Merion Relays with outstanding results. Everyone ran with poise, dignity, and all deliberate speed.......but we especially want to recognize

Kaitlin B. for her Gold Medal and LM Relay All Time Record of 5:30 in the mile

Gunnar S., David Z, Kanishka R and Tise E. for Silver Medals in the 4 by 2 800 meter relay.
Michael S. for his silver medal in the 200 meter dash
Gunnar S. for a silver medal in high jump
Justin Eger for a silver in the 100 meter dash
And David Z. for his personal record and silver medal in the 400 meter open.

Finally, bronze medalists included: Claudia W. for high jump and the relay team of Tess B, Gabby L., Angela S., and Casha' B.

Announcements for May 20,2010

1. Attention all 8th grade students interested in playing a fall sport at Conestoga - there is an important meeting for you and your parents at Conestoga's auditorium at 7pm.

2. Students attending the Wharton Esherick field trip today are remained to bring a pencil, jacket and provisions for lunch. You are to ask your first period teacher to dismiss you at 8:45. We will meet in the main lobby at 8:55.

3. The Writing Club will meet today from 2:40 - 3:10.

4. Attention 8th graders....There's only 19 days left to order your copy of the Memories DVD.   1. Attention all 8th graders participating in the 8th grade Variety Show.  ALL acts must attend auditions this Wednesday the 19th immediately following school in the auditorium.  Once you have preformed you will be free to leave.  Any questions see Mr. Schweitzer or Mrs. Rickel.

  1. The 7th grade lacrosse team beat Valley Forge on Friday 8 to 5. The team played outstanding!  Goals were scored by Chrissy W, Victoria P, Mary Hall, Sarah N, Hannah H, and Maddie S.  Jess R, Sarah B and Kara S played amazing defense!  Good luck tomorrow against Welsh Valley.

1.  Haiti t-shirts are finally in.  They will be sold during lunch in the cafeteria for $15 all this week.  Today is the last day to buy a shirt.  All proceeds will go to Haiti relief efforts.

 

2.  Attention all 8th graders planning to audition for Variety Show, forms are due to Mr. Schweitzer no later than today, May 14th.  Auditions will be held on Wednesday, May 19th immediately after school in the auditorium.  Any questions please see Mr. Schweitzer, Mrs. Tyrell or Mrs. Rickel.

 

3.  The Winners of the What a Life, Spring Break Challenge are Alexia D., Bharti K., and Juliann S. Each wins a $5 gift certificate to the school store!

4.  The Winners of the What a Life, Expressions Contest are Juliann S., Hannah A., Sara W., and Haley V. Each wins a $10 gift certificate to Handel's!

Winners can pick up their prizes at the school office starting this Friday.

5.  Next week is the "Hugs for the World" stuffed animal drive. Bring in new or like new stuffed animals Monday-Thursday and drop them off in the collection boxes in the lobby.  More details are available on posters around school and also on the temspto.org website

 

6.  Attention Track Team:  The list has been posted for the Continental League Track Meet on Monday and the Lower Merion Relays on Wednesday.  You must attend today's practice if you intend to participate in either event.  If you have a conflict, please contact one of the coaches prior to practice time.  The Valley Forge Relay list will be posted at a later date.

5.  The T/E Track Team suffered a crushing defeat yesterday against arch rival Valley Forge, but the memories of our wins this season against Bala-Cynwyd, Welsh Valley, Norristown Girls, and Upper Merion last Wednesday stand out as highlights of the season for us.  Because of yesterday's tremendous effort in the cold, wind, and rain, there will be NO TRACK PRACTICE TODAY.  Give your muscles a rest.

 

A list of those participating in post season events will be posted soon.  Tomorrow's practice will be for those students.

4.  Congratulations to the 8th grade softball team who defeated Stewart yesterday with a score of 20-4. Jamie J did a great job catching for Kristen M. Stephanie W., Sam S., Chelsea Y., Shania B., Emily K., and Monica H. all scored multiple times and did a great job on the field. Props go to Monica H for hitting her 2nd grand slam this season. Keep up the good work ladies.

1.     On Tuesday, the 7th Grade Softball defeated Bala Cynwyd by the score of 7 - 1. Molly and Emily combined to pitch an outstanding game. Melanie and Ellen were awesome catchers. Emily H. made a great catch and then turned it in to a double play!  Lauren, Brittany, Lizzie, Elise, Cindy, Alex, Veronica, and Maria all contributed to this convincing win. The win raised the team's record to 8 and 3.

 

2.     Attention all 8th grade girls interested in playing soccer at Conestoga in the fall.  There is a very important meeting today during activity in the large group room.  Please see Miss Hickey if you cannot attend.

3.     Yesterday the 8th grade softball team played an amazing game against Eisenhower. The final score was 17-0. Chloe H., Molly M., Gabby W., Madison L., Jordyn P., Hannah L., Hannah R., Amanda J., Anna F., and Allison A. all got on base multiple times. Amanda J. pitched and Hannah L. and Molly M. player catcher. Great job girls!

 

 

4.     The Writing Club will NOT meet today. We will resume our meetings next week.
