Announcements for Friday, January 14, 2011

  1. Lunch today is stuffed crust pizza, assorted fruits and vegetables, low fat white or chocolate milk.

  1. The PTO is organizing a student book swap.  It's a fun way to encourage reading.  Students share their gently used, middle school appropriate books with other students in exchange for new reading material that is free. Book swap tables are set up at the front and back entrances this week. When you drop off a book, be sure to take a ticket to participate in the swap. Today is the last day for book drop off.

Then on January 18th, 19th, and 20th students will be able to go to the large group room during activity and pick out new books.  Students will be able to select as many new books as they dropped off the week before.

  1. Your logo could be featured on this year’s Seussical Jr. t-shirt!  Design a logo that best represents Seussical Jr. The Musical and the characters of Dr. Seuss.  See your art teacher or the flyer on the musical bulletin board for more information.  Logos are due to the main office by today.

  1. While enjoying the long winter weekend holiday, please remember those less fortunate, who will be grateful for a warm meal. The Martin Luther King Casserole Project is a great way to help! Students are asked to purchase the ingredients for a casserole, combine the ingredients, freeze the casserole and bring it to school between 7-8am on Tuesday, Jan 18. The tins will be available after school today or look on the TEMS website for instructions.

  1. Congratulations to the ten finalists in the 5th & 6th grade Geography Bee this year. They are listed outside room 206 and will be part of the final rounds of questions on Tuesday 18 January during 2nd period in room 107.

  1. Attention all Model United Nations Club members - our next meeting is Tuesday 18 January after school from 2:45-3:45.
