  1. On this day in 2003, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is elected governor of California, the most populous state in the nation with the world's fifth-largest economy.

 

  1. Tutoring Club will begin next Tuesday, October 11th, in Mrs. Houghton’s Room 112.  For those of you interested in joining, please see the main office or your guidance counselor for a permission slip.

 

  1. Congratulations to Ms. Wilson’s homeroom for winning song of the week.  The song was Man on the Moon by R.E.M.

 

  1. On this day, poet Alan Ginsberg reads his poem "Howl" at a poetry reading at Six Gallery in San Francisco. The poem was an immediate success that rocked the Beat literary world and set the tone for confessional poetry of the 1960s and later.
