Announcements for Thursday, April 19, 2012

1.      Today’s lunch is Baked Breaded Chicken, assorted fruits and vegetables, low-fat white or chocolate milk.

 

2.       The 8th grade softball team ended its streak of close games yesterday, winning big vs Eisenhower to improve to 4-0 on the season.  Maddie D, Abby, Shannon, Maddie W, Alice, Caitlyn, Cailey and Julia all contributed in the victory.  Anna C went 4-4 to lead the offense.  On the pitchers mound, Rachel C had 2 strikeouts to get out of a bases loaded situation and Emily pitched the final inning to preserve the shutout for Gigi.  Way to go Bulldogs!

 

3.       The writing club will meet this week on Thursday at normal time. Please come prepared to work on any articles or writings for the Bulldog Press. If you cannot make the meeting, please see Mr. Mattison to discuss how to turn in your writing.

 

4.       Attention all 8th graders planning on trying out for Conestoga's football team this summer - There is an important meeting on Friday during activity in the wrestling room.  Please see Miss Hickey if you cannot attend..

 

5.       Attention 8^th Grade:  This is a reminder that individual Variety Show Permission Slips are due to Mr. Ferris as soon as possible.  The deadline to turn in permission forms is Thursday, April 26^th.  Also, in order to participate in the auditions your act must submit a registration form to Mr. Ferris.  

 

6.       Today in 1775, the "shot heard around the world" was fired from an undetermined gun, and a cloud of musket smoke soon covered the green. When the brief Battle of Lexington ended, eight Americans lay dead or dying and 10 others were wounded. Only one British soldier was injured, but the American Revolution had begun.

 

7.       Congratulation to the following T/E track members at the Upper Merion Meet:  Addy N. won the 60 meter hurdles.  Kim B. won the weighted 60 meter hurdles.  Mark D. won the 60 meter hurdles.  Abby C. won the 100 meter race.  Ryan P. won the 200 meter race.  Bryce G. won the 200 meter open race.  Lila H. won the 400 meter race.  Sarah W. won the 800 meter race.  Johanna N. won the 1600 meter race.  Maddie B., Mia B., Taylor G., Laryssa T. won the weighted 4 by 100 meter relay.  Annie D., Celeste L., Sammy M., and Lila H. won the 4 by 200 meter relay.  Victoria O. won the open Long Jump.  Gabe H. won the weighted Long jump.  Mack M. won the 1600 meter race.  Way to go BULLDOGS!

9.       The 7^th grade knowledge bowl team will practice today in room 115 during activity and lunch.
